The ability to immerse yourself in a countries culture and way of life is one of the reasons international travel is so popular. From eating where the locals eat to attending cultural festivals, these are all great opportunities to be one with the community at your vacation destination.
Following the restrictions set on travel and movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of these opportunities to take part in local activities seem far way removed. Thankfully, the worst days are behind us, and we are finally moving forward. Considering all the health and safety protocols, and to stimulate the economy, San Pedro’s local government hosts a monthly San Pedro Market Day. The event promotes local entrepreneurs by providing a safe market venue for both visitors and residents to visit.
Market Days are a global concept offering consumers the ability to discover artisan products and connect with local vendors. What can we expect from The San Pedro Market Day? It’s held at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex located on the lagoon side of the town core, locally known as Saca Chispas. So far, two market days have been hosted, each better than the next. A large variety of products and services are offered, and the best part, it is all provided by small resident vendors, no big chains here! From fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables to local cuisine, homemade skincare products, footwear, clothing, liquor, spa services, arts and craft, jewelry, plants, paintings… the list of items is endless!
If you are visiting and want to take back a unique souvenir, this is the place to go! The best part is the all items are at special Market Day prices you won’t find anywhere else… talk about a good bargain. The San Pedro Market Day is a fantastic event for the entire family!
The next Market Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th, from 4PM to 11PM. All are welcome to attend this Mother’s Day edition promoting 30 women-owned businesses. Remember, all COVID19 health and safety regulations are enforced; masks must be worn at all times, and temperature checks will be carried out.
