Anglers will find the best Tarpon, Permit, and Bonefish fishing known to man [on the island]. Just a few miles offshore, the seabed drops by a staggering 1,400 feet. This means that Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, White and Blue Marlin are all on the menu in these waters.”
Fishing has always been an important part of the island’s identity. Throughout the years, islanders have cultivated a successful industry around the bounties of the Caribbean Sea, with sports fishing quickly becoming a go to activity for many visitors to the island. Competitions have also become a main attraction for competitive sports fishermen, with many of Belize’s top fishing tournaments being held out of Ambergris Caye. It goes to say that fishing is a must-do while on the island!
