The month of May brings a particular kind of ease to Ambergris Caye. High season is winding down, the island finds its natural rhythm again, and there is a pace to daily life here that feels unhurried and genuine. A few road notes worth having before you head out: South of San Pedro Town, the road is currently being extended with new paving near the Island Wonder Restaurant area, making the southern drive noticeably smoother. Unpaved road conditions further south remain good as far as 4.5 miles southwest to We Jammin’ Boat Bar, a lively spot worth a stop. Heading north on the road out toward X’tan Ha Resort, about 8 miles from town, the road was graded in early May and is in good shape, with potholes beginning to appear.
