With schools closed for summer break until September, we’ve compiled a list of several activities specifically catering to the island youth! Get involved in the community and check out some FREE activities you can do to make your vacation a memorable one!
- Become a Volunteer Dog Walker at Saga
The Saga Humane Society is a non-profit pet clinic serving Ambergris Caye. The society has led the island’s free spay and neuter campaign and continues to house, rehabilitate and place our four-legged friends into happy new homes! They’re always looking for a few extra hands and energetic legs to lead pet walks. Volunteer today!
- Basil Jones Summer Camp
The Basil Jones Summer Camp is a 4 week summer camp starting July 6th-30th. The camp works to promote conservation and preservation of the Belize Barrier Reef through education, fun activities and youth empowerment. The camp open to youth ages 11-17, is conducted by the Green Reef, a marine conservation NGO. Every week there will be a new set of 25 campers who will pack their bags and head to an idyllic beachside retreat.

- Join Local Sport Tournaments
Summers on Ambergris Caye are loaded with various sporting events such as five-aside football and beach volleyball tournmanets! Not only does it give you the opportunity to get physical, it also helps you become a part of a team and compete in tournaments which often have some cool prizes and bragging rights! Keep an eye out on our online events calendar and The San Pedro Sun Newspaper for these upcoming events.
- Become an Optimist Sailor
The San Pedro Sailing Club located at Caribbean Villas Hotel, provides free sailing lessons to the children of Ambergris Caye! Learn a new skill as you become a fun sailing family. - Camp Starfish
Organized especially for children with special needs, Camp Starfish provides a fun and educational experience tailored for their needs. While the camp primarily focuses on skill enhancement programs for the children, including physical and speech therapy, it also offers counseling for parents as well. Nurses are present at camp sessions. Pick up services also available for those who have no means of transportation.
