The festival is organized by the Consulate of Belize in Florida and Belize’s Office of Special Envoy for Women and Children along with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), BELTRAIDE, Flavors of Belize, and FIU’s School of Hospitality Management and Tourism and aims to market the best of Belize’s culinary culture, while fundraising for the development of Belize’s first dedicated Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

The chefs all got the opportunity to represent the country and their respective establishments as they showcased their best Belizean dishes! Attendees got the chance to pick up a few cooking tips from them, as meals were prepared in an open setting. There was even a “Kids Corner” which included interactive meal preparation for the little ones!

Also present at the festival were Belizean artists who showcased their art work and even entertained the crowds with live music. Naturally there were plenty of local rums and beers to go around for everyone!
Check out some of the delicious stuff prepared by some of our favorite chefs!

About the Author: Tamara Sniffin

I’m a sucker for a fuzzy face, a feathered face, a face with fins or even one with scales! I am in love with the creatures and the flora that are synonymous with Belize and every opportunity I have to learn more about them and explore their wild habitats I am there! I’m the happiest when I’m snorkeling the reef and swimming with turtles, however my passion is not just limited to critters! Laced throughout this compact jungle gem of a country live the Kriol, Maya, Garifuna, Mestizo and Spanish people, and experiencing each culture, especially their celebrations is one of my favorite pastimes.
