As a mom of one, I truly appreciate living in an area with plenty of family-friendly dining options. However, I also cherish opportunities for quiet days with my husband or girlfriends. This is especially true when it comes to dining. While I enjoy eating as a family, it isn’t always a “relaxing” experience. So, when I have the chance for a day away, I prefer not to be surrounded by other busy parents and energetic kids.
If you’re anything like me, that adult-only time is rare but incredibly important. Fortunately, an adults-only restaurant, Moon Bar, is located on North Ambergris Caye. This beachside restaurant offers a relaxing alternative with its peaceful environment, amazing cocktails, and delicious meals. The menu is designed with adults in mind, providing guests a unique experience in a spectacular location. Moon Bar is an exclusive beachside bar and pizzeria for adults (18+), known for its laid-back and inviting atmosphere.
Open to the public; Moon Bar offers the perfect setting to enjoy stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and the Belize Barrier Reef while indulging in some of the best drinks and pizzas in San Pedro. In addition to the fantastic location, food, and drinks, guests have complimentary access to lounge chairs, daybeds, a swimming pool, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards.
During a recent visit, I was delighted to try their award-winning “Sweet and Spicy Thai Lobster Pizza.” This exceptional dish features a homemade crust coated with a creamy peanut satay sauce, topped with generous chunks of fresh lobster, green bell peppers, red onions, and mozzarella cheese. The pizza is finished with fresh cilantro, chopped peanuts, and a drizzle of their signature sweet chili sauce to elevate the flavors. Combining these ingredients creates a truly exquisite treat, and it’s no surprise that this pizza won first place for the Best Lobster Dish at the 2024 San Pedro Lobster Festival. Although lobster is a seasonal offering, the restaurant also serves this pizza with shrimp, making it available for year-round enjoyment.
A kid-free day out isn’t complete without some adult beverages, and Moon Bar certainly delivers! The talented mixologists at the bar have perfected infused margaritas in various flavors, including jalapeño, pineapple, strawberry, and mango. If you can’t decide on a flavor (what a delightful dilemma!), you can order a flight and let your taste buds choose. My personal favorite was the mango infusion!
