Belize Forestry Department Preserves the Nation’s Plant History

Hidden within the archives of the Belize Forestry Department is an incredible scientific treasure: the national herbarium, which houses nearly 20,000 preserved plant specimens that document Belize’s rich botanical diversity. Now, researchers and volunteers are working to preserve, remount, and digitize the collection, making Belize’s flora accessible to scientists around the globe.
