East Indian Dance and Pageantry Workshops
July 3 @ 8:00 am - August 3 @ 5:00 pm
Giving its full support towards the further development and strengthening of East Indian Dance in Belize, the National Institute of Culture and History through the Institute of Creative Arts and in collaboration with Corozal Organization of East Indian Culture and Heritage (COEICH) – a member of the newly formed Belize Organization of People of Indian Descent (BOPID) – will host East Indian dance classes and pageant training workshops in Corozal Town, from July 3rd to August 3rd, 2019.
As a cultural exchange visitor, Ms. Samanta Ramkarran, Dance instructor from the National Council of Indian Culture and Prema Shakti Dancers from Trinidad and Tobago, will be in Belize to share her exceptional skill and knowledge of the composition and structure of Indian Dance using a holistic method. With a career spanning for over 20 years, Ms. Ramkarran’s choreographies are carefully researched to depict the essence of the various styles she performs, namely Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Bollywood.
An open invitation is offered through this medium to anyone who wishes to be a part of this great initiative to register for these workshops. We take this opportunity to also encourage Belizean youths of East Indian descent to sign up and train for the Belize Miss East Indian Pageant which will be held on August 3rd, 2019. The training workshops are scheduled as two separate daily sessions from Monday to Friday.
