Full Marathon Entrance Fee: $200BZ National or Resident/$200USD International Participant
Ranger Challenge: We’re challenging Belize’s Protected Areas Management Organizations to enter their fittest rangers to square off and decide which organization has the fittest Rangers in Belize! We encourage Protected Areas Management Organizations to seek sponsorship for their rangers. Limited sponsorship will be offered by the Chiquibul Challenge Marathon organizers for conservation organizations.
Fees will cover runners transportation to and from San Ignacio to Las Cuevas on the 11th, an overnight stay with dinner & breakfast at Las Cuevas Research Station, and your Marathon entrance.
Please take note that our goal is to minimize any negative impact and trash. So there will be no plastic bag water and all runners have to bring a minimum of 1 L (recommended is 2 L) water system or bottle to refill. There will be one water station on the course and you will have to stop to refill.
For the first year we expect to increase awareness of the Chiquibul, its beauty and threats, and to celebrate fitness. Proceeds of this race will be shared between 2 non-profit conservation organisations: Friends for Conservation & Development (FCD) and the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic (BWRC) to support it’s conservation work with the Scarlet Macaws of the Chiquibul in partnership with FCD.
We need lots of volunteers, sponsors for transportation, food and water, Gatorade, prize money, and station prizes, medals, t-shirts and printing. We need race officials, time keepers, massage therapists and a clean-up crew.
It is time to get started training and we hope to see you there! Contact us for more information and stay tuned for more information.
